Au\u00dferdem besuchte er die Indiana University f\u00fcr die Medical School und schloss sein Medizinstudium 1995 ab. Dr. Capen absolvierte sein Praktikum und seine Assistenzzeit bei Community Hospital Indianapolis im Jahr 1998. Er ist Mitglied der Indiana Academy of Family Practice, der Indiana State Medical Association, der American Medical Association und der Phi Beta Kappa.
