Im Jahr 2001 wurde ihm der Doktortitel der Medizin verliehen. Anschlie\u00dfend absolvierte Dr. Heise ein Praktikum und eine Facharztausbildung in der Allgemeinchirurgie an der Michigan State University und schloss seine Ausbildung zum Chefarzt der Allgemeinchirurgie ab. Dr. Heise leitet au\u00dferdem das Heartburn and Swallowing Center des Hancock Regional Hospital und ist einer der wenigen ausgebildeten Chirurgen in Indiana, der das TIF-Verfahren zur Behandlung von saurem Reflux anbietet.
