It can be difficult to tell a friend you can\u2019t make it to their get-together or your child that there just isn\u2019t enough time this week to visit their favorite friend. But the more you make <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/why-saying-no-is-necessary-for-good-health\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">saying no<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a habit, the easier it will be and the better you will feel with a more manageable schedule.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Breathe with intention\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know there are different types of breathing and not all are good for you? When we get stressed, our breathing tends to become <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellmind.com\/abdominal-breathing-2584115\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more rapid<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, leading to dizziness, increased heart rate, and muscle tension. These physical reactions can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellmind.com\/abdominal-breathing-2584115\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cause the body<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to release stress signals, leading to panic attacks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, when we breath slowly and from our abdomen (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellmind.com\/abdominal-breathing-2584115\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">diaphragmatic breathing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), we are creating a deeper path for breath, which helps reduce the feelings of stress. To experience the benefits of breathing in this manner, inhale deeply through your nose, relax your shoulders, and exhale through the mouth. If you\u2019re already experiencing anxiety, try taking deep breaths through your nose, count to four, exhale while counting to six or seven, and then repeating the cycle. The act of focusing on counting and the pattern you\u2019ve created can help take attention away from anxiety and get you feeling more balanced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Take fewer coffee breaks\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For many of us, it\u2019s just not living without caffeine. From early morning coffees to afternoon colas, the caffeine you ingest can add up, and that can lead to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellmind.com\/caffeine-stress-and-your-health-3145078\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increase in stress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
