The most important things in Stephenie Hoskins\u2019 life are in Hancock County. After graduating from Greenfield Central High School<\/a>, she went on to raise her family here in the community she loves.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u201cNow I have three grandchildren\u2014they\u2019re my whole world,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I still get together with my girlfriends from high school.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Her career is close to home, too. Hoskins is the lead technologist for diagnostic imaging at Gateway Hancock Health<\/a>, a job she truly enjoys. She has plenty to say about Gateway\u2014not only about why it\u2019s a great place to work, but also why it\u2019s a great place for imaging services.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Q: What\u2019s special about working at Gateway?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: Everyone who works here wants to be here, so the teamwork is amazing. And everyone who works here wants to put patients first, so that makes a big difference in the kind of care we give. And every day is different because every patient is different and every conversation is different, and I enjoy learning new things.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Q: What\u2019s your philosophy about patient care?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: The patient always comes first. I just try to make them feel comfortable and like they\u2019re important because a lot of people are already scared and nervous when they come to a medical facility.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Q: What types of imaging does Gateway offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: We have X-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI scans.I perform X-rays and CT and MRI scans.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Q: MRIs make some people nervous because they\u2019re noisy and take a long time\u2014generally between 30 minutes and an hour. How do you help patients through that? <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: We give them headphones, music, warm blankets, and a lot of attention. And our MRI technician talks everyone through the procedure. He always makes sure they\u2019re OK, and lets them know where they are in their scan time, so they know when they\u2019ll be finished. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Q: Gateway is, on average, 70 percent lower than people would pay for a similar-quality test at a hospital. What do patients say about the savings?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: Most insurance plans these days are high-deductible, and that means if you haven\u2019t met your deductible, you\u2019re paying out of pocket. So, for example, if you go to a hospital, your CT scan could be from $1,300 to almost $2,000. But at Gateway, it\u2019s going to be $500 to $700. That\u2019s a huge difference for people who are raising a family, or just trying to take care of themselves. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Q: What do you do when you\u2019re not at work? <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

A: We spend a lot of time with our grandchildren, and we like to travel. My mom lives in Arizona, so we go there at least twice a year.It\u2019s easy to see how much Stephenie enjoys her job and all the benefits Gateway provides. But she\u2019s just one member of our staff of health advocates, nurses, and doctors, all working together to ensure that every patient who comes to Gateway receives expert care, along with great service.
