Numerous small, unimportant decisions through the day add up to <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhyatt.com\/the-science-of-decision-fatigue\/\">mental fatigue<\/a>. You can minimize those through habit, so energy is available for more important things.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problems arise when we participate mindlessly during experiences we want to remember, in situations which could cause us harm, or when we try to grasp new skills.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-heading core-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Proactive Interference<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proactive interference is when what you already know <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/high-octane-brain\/201906\/mindfulness-and-memory\">impedes your ability<\/a> to take in new information, like constantly returning to the old drawer for measuring cups when you reorganize the kitchen. A misplaced kitchen utensil is one thing, but failing to notice something that could harm you or your family (because you\u2019re on autopilot and aren\u2019t taking in all the data) is quite another.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s where mindfulness comes in. <a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.harvard.edu\/sara_lazar\/publications\/reduced-interference-working-memory-following-mindfulness-training\">Studies show<\/a> that mindfulness training (meditation) lessens proactive interference in daily life and increases the ability to learn new things\u2014useful for brain health, stress management, and personal safety.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-heading core-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Awareness<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Awareness is amplified when we evaluate the messages we take in, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/redchairrecruitment.ie\/exercises-and-games-to-heighten-your-senses-and-situational-awareness\/\">input of all our senses<\/a>.
