When she\u2019s working with the patients of \u30b2\u30fc\u30c8\u30a6\u30a7\u30a4\u30fb\u30cf\u30f3\u30b3\u30c3\u30af\u30fb\u30d8\u30eb\u30b9<\/a>, Tamera Trout makes it a point to pay attention to the smallest details. <\/p>\n<\/div>

That\u2019s because Trout, who is one of Gateway\u2019s health advocates, knows that helping patients feel healthier isn\u2019t only about expert care. It\u2019s also about making sure they\u2019re comfortable when they arrive for their blood tests, imaging, or immediate care\u2014and about getting them in and out quickly and efficiently.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

\u201cI really pay attention to people,\u201d she said. \u201cI like to go those extra miles because that\u2019s just who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Turns out Tamera has built her life\u2019s work around customer service. In our interview below, she explains what she loves about working with the public. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong> How long have you worked at Gateway?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> Just a few weeks. I\u2019m also a spa owner and a licensed esthetician. I own Spa 52 in New Palestine, so I understand customer service really well. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong> Are you from Hancock County?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> I was born at Hancock Regional and raised in Greenfield! I know a lot of people in the community, but it\u2019s been growing so quickly that there are a lot of people I don\u2019t know. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u8cea\u554f: <\/strong>What are some of the little things you do for patients?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> If they aren\u2019t fasting for their tests, I offer them coffee or tea from our coffee bar. Or, if they\u2019re in a wheelchair, I try to make sure they\u2019re located in a part of the waiting area where they can see what\u2019s going on and be near the doorway they\u2019ll enter to get their tests. And I take time to talk to them and show them around the building, because it is really beautiful.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong> What do patients say about Gateway and its environment?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> People comment on it all the time! They love the building. And what\u2019s not to like? It\u2019s open, airy, and calming. It feels earthy, and not like you\u2019re closed in. It\u2019s not what some people expect when they\u2019re coming in for blood tests or MRIs. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong>  One of Gateway\u2019s biggest benefits is its affordability: You can get labs and imaging done at a price that is, on average, 70% less than you\u2019d pay at a hospital. How important is that?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> We like to help people save money, and that makes them  feel better. I think it\u2019s a stress reliever because a lot of people are on strict budgets\u2014a lot of older people, especially. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong> That probably helps doctors encourage their patients to follow through with labs and imaging orders. How does Gateway work with physicians\u2019 offices?<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> If we can work with the doctors\u2019 offices, we save the patient from having to chase things down. So that\u2019s what we do. We want to keep things running smoothly for everyone, and we get lab and imaging results to them quickly\u2014in a day\u2019s time, if we can. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\u8cea\u554f:<\/strong> What are your future plans? <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>

\u7b54\u3048:<\/strong> I\u2019m really enjoying my job here, and I want to keep taking care of people at my spa, too. I\u2019m also a REALTOR\u00ae in my extra time!<\/p>\n<\/div>
