Hospice Care

Hancock Health and Suburban Hospice provide different levels of care to meet our patients’ needs. At-home hospice care is the best for most patients, but in some cases, offering care at home isn’t possible. We also provide hospice care in nursing facilities and assisted living.

• Routine home care is offered in the comfort of your home.
• In-patient respite care is provided in a hospital or extended-stay facility.
• General inpatient care is offered in a hospital or other healthcare facility, when a patient’s symptoms require interventions that are not possible in the home.

The Greenfield location offers both respite and general inpatient care on a seven-bed unit designed to provide expert end-of-life care in a homelike setting. Although this setting is not an option for long-term stays, patients may need a few days for symptom control before transitioning back home or to another care setting.

Suburban Hospice is available 24 hours a day to provide empathetic care to you and your loved ones. We provide the following services:

• Symptom management & pain relief
• Hygiene & personal care
• Emotional & spiritual support
• Nutritional counseling
• Medical equipment & supplies
• Bereavement care

Palliative care is specialized medical treatment that focuses on relieving the pain, discomfort, and stress that can accompany serious illness or injury. It may be helpful for patients with cancer, heart failure, obstructive lung disease, dementia, or other serious illnesses that lower quality of life through physical or emotional pain.
